June Meeting Announced… Time For A Bakeation!

The next meeting of the Glasgow Baking Club is to be held on June 27 2012, from 19.00 – 21.00, at a secret location in Glasgow’s Southside.
The exact location will be disclosed by email shortly after the closing date.

There are 20 spaces available for our next meeting, and places will be allocated on a first come, first served, basis.

The theme for this event is TIME FOR A BAKEATION.
If you have been watching The Hairy Bikers’ latest TV series you will be aware that they have travelled all round Europe, stopping along the way to bake a dish inspired by the region they are visiting… taking a  BAKEATION.
As the next event falls at the end of June, when we are all ready for our summer holidays, we thought it appropriate for this event to reflect the holiday season. From Key Lime Pie (Florida) to Baklava (Greece), your bake should represent a holiday destination.

If you need some more bakeation inspiration, you should check out Around the World in Eighty Bakes. This fabulous blog by Lauren, combines one girl’s love of travel and love of food perfectly!

If you want to join in on the baking fun, please send an email with your name, and what you would like to bake, to glasgowbakingclub@gmail.com, by May 31 2012.
If we receive duplicate suggestions, we may need to ask you to choose another bake.

Thankyou for reading, and Good Luck!

Favourite Bakes – The Review

Well, we did it… 14 of us got together in the beautiful kitchen of Mrs Jones with our Favourite Bakes, ate as much as we could, and had a thoroughly lovely time!

It was really nice to learn a little about each other (as most of us had never met before), and about our choice of bake, as we all introduced ourselves.
The standard of baking was really high, and although we had some individuals among us who bake for a living, those who are bakers in their spare time should be very proud of what they produced today. Each and every bake was beautiful and delicious!

2 cake-filled hours flew in, and before we knew it, it was time to pack up our Tupperware boxes with an amazing array of baked goods to take home to our loved ones (and I am sure some of our work colleagues will be very grateful tomorrow when we take in any leftovers).

Sorry to those who wanted to come today, but who we didn’t have space for. Hope to meet you at the next event… details to be announced soon!

Feast your eyes on this photographic record of what we enjoyed today…
