Next Meeting – Great Pink Bake Off

Our next meeting will be in a slightly different format to usual.  We’re planning to hold a bake off for the #GreatPinkBakeOff event hosted by Breakthrough Breast Cancer so this time we will be judging entries although it’s all just a bit of fun!  Ali, Kirsteen and I were recently invited along to Breakthrough Breast Cancer Scotland HQ in Edinburgh for a blogger evening to give us some information about their campaign to run this event in October.  We were inspired to hold our own and you can find the details of our next meeting below.

You can read more about the blogger evening and how to sign up to run your own event on Ali’s blog here and Bex’s blog here.

We’re holding our event a bit earlier than the 18th in the hope to inspire others (and the date suits better!)  Our next baking club meeting will be on Sunday afternoon on the 6th October, 4pm-6pm.  The theme will be pink for the #GreatPinkBakeOff.  Although we have done a pink theme before for breast cancer, it’s such a good cause and the theme just fits so well.  The idea is to make anything pink or with a pink ingredient so there are plenty of options.

To come along and take part, all you have to do is email with your name and choice of bake (if someone else has already chosen the same bake you will be asked to choose another to avoid duplicates).  We will email you all nearer the time with details of the venue.  In another change from the usual format (it’s usually free if you haven’t been before), we are asking everyone to please bring along a donation towards this great cause.

As always, places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.  We currently have 15 spaces available for this event but are hoping to be able to increase this number when we have confirmed our venue.

Glasgow Baking Club Picnic – The Report

Last Wednesday we were blessed with sunshine after a couple of days of stormy showers and were able to have our first al fresco meeting!  There were only 7 of us this time which made for a more intimate gathering at one of the picnic tables in the Botanic Gardens.  It was a lovely way to spend an evening!  Sadly I was still jet lagged and had a crazy busy week (hence the super quick crustless quiches!) so was only able to spend about an hour there but managed to take plenty of pictures of course…

Kirsteen brought along her picnic basket with lashings of ginger beer and pink lemonade for us all to drink with our goodies, of which we had the perfect array of sweet and savoury.  It was a very civilised affair with white tablecloths and plenty of delicious bakes!
