Well, it may have been wet and miserable outside ( again!!), but there was a warm, fuzzy, welcome awaiting us inside the doors of Felix and Oscar on Great Western Road for our Christmas Crackers themed meet up on the 9th of December. As well as the usual tea, coffee and hot chocolates, a warm glow was offered in the form of a mug of mulled wine, the ideal drink to help wash down our Christmas delights.
With the mulled wine on the go and everyone’s Christmas bakes on display, the room was filled with the smell of Christmas and our mouths soon crammed full with the taste of it too. From gluten free delights of iced ginger bread and chocolate Florentines, mince meat cake, pistachio and cranberry biscuits, Christmas pud truffles, Santa’s chocolate brownies and even a visit from Rudolf and his other reindeer friends, it was a night to remember. With all that sweetness, I think we where all thankful to Tracey for bringing along a touch of savoury flavour in the shape of her delicious cheese and chive scones.
Thanks once again go to Sandy for hosting us, not only for our Christmas meet up but on a number of occasions through out 2014, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his continued support of Glasgow Baking Club.
So, that’s it for 2014, looking forward to seeing familiar faces and new members at our next meeting in Feb 2015. Dates and venue to be confirmed so keep an eye on our face book page for updates. In the meantime, hope you all have a delicious Christmas and a baketastic 2015. Right, I’m off now to get the mince pies out the oven, homemade of course!!!
