Since Alison is very busy with her little bundle of joy who arrived just last month, she asked me to take the photos at the latest club meeting. Of course I was happy to and offered to do the write up for her as well. I’ve been to every meeting of baking club and am so glad I discovered it as I’ve enjoyed every single one! Huge thanks to Alison and Kirsteen for starting it up and organising the meetings so well. I’d just like to apologise in advance for what will probably be excessive use of photos! It’s something I’m guilty of on my own blog (I’m Bex from The Olive Dragonfly by the way!) and just can’t resist sharing an abundance of pictures.
On Friday evening we had our 5th Glasgow Baking Club meeting to celebrate a year since the inaugural event. Since it was our anniversary, the theme was Birthday Party and there was a wonderful array of celebration cakes, nibbles, biscuits, cupcakes and muffins…
The venue this time was Patisserie Francoise which is a beautiful French style cafe on Byres Road. Kirsteen brought along some birthday candles to place in each bake and we heard a little from the French owner of the Patisserie, Francoise Cocozza. She opened the cafe 35 years ago and it’s now run on a day to day basis by her daughters, Yasmin and Natalie. Her son runs their bakery in Bishopbriggs.
After a short but interesting talk from Francoise, we all dug in to the delicious birthday treats!
All the bakes were absolutely delicious! (I can’t vouch for the peanut cookies or peanut squares due to my allergy though.) It was nice to have such a range of things, including savoury bakes to have a break from all that sugar! We forgot to get a group photo but I took a few of individuals as they explained their bakes.
And the thing we were all dying to see – the inside of Linsey‘s stunning Rainbow cake!…
It was a brilliant evening, thanks to everyone for coming and making such lovely bakes and thanks to Patisserie Francoise for allowing us to take over their cafe for the evening!
